Fluoroquinolone resistant ecoli - (Mar/23/2014 )

Hello all,

I am looking for a source/sources to get quick access to Fluoroquinolones resistant ecoli strains for my research without goign through the isolation process on the clinical samples.  I know it depends to where the mutation has occured to make it resistant.  But is there anyway to get access to most clinically relevant and important strains somehow?  I appreciate any help on this subject.

Thanks

FL.

The papers describing this resistance normally have strains deposited at (inter)national storage facilities...

You can also google this and then you should get some strains which you can order/ask from companies/research facilities....

First hit I got on google: http://aac.asm.org/content/55/8/3964.full.pdf ... just email the authors...(or perhaps its even mentioned in the paper where they deposited this strain(s).....

(that paper even mentions that they got their strain(s) from Hirotsugu Akizawa, so perhaps you can also ask this person for the strain...)

PS. there are also plasmids involved... so perhaps its even easier to work with a plasmid than with a strain? It all depends on what you are going to do in the end..
