Appearance of a salty plasmid preparation - (Nov/12/2013 )

I was once told that the sign of a salty DNA pellet was that it appeared white. Following precipitation using isopropyl alcohol and sodium acetate and washing thrice with 70% ethanol, my pellets are white until dry. After allowing to dry, the pellet is no longer visible. If the pellet was salty, would it still be visible after drying? Is the appearance unrelated to salt content?

Whiteness of the pellet isn't necessarily due to the salt - usually it is due to protein contamination in my experience.  If it has gone clear with drying, I suspect that you will probably be fine, there might be some salt left over though.
