Blocking neutrophil binding - (Aug/01/2013 )

Hi,

I am looking at neutrophil binding to endothelial cells (HUVEC), and wanted to block some of the adhesion molecules (E-selectin, ICAM-1, etc) to look at the relative effects of each one. The papers I have read talked about using antibodies to block the molecules on the HUVEC, but I was thinking that surely that would just opsonise the cells, causing MORE neutrophils to bind, rather than less.

Could someone help me out of the logical paradox I keep thinking about, or suggest some other blockers if this is something I am right about.

Antibodies from a different species perhaps?
