purify protein from native gel - (Jul/13/2013 )

Hi all,

Wanted to know if anyone has experience purifying proteins from native PAGE gels for downstream applications like EMSA? I was thinking about using invitrogen's NativePage Bis-Tris Gel system and cutting out my band of interest and eluting from gel. Is this nuts?

not at all. we've used that procedure for some difficult to purify proteins. we prepare prep size and thickness gels to load large amounts of protein, cut and stain a lane and use that to line up the band of interest.

we used the resulting purified proteins to inoculate rabbits.
