Unlikely ways in which contamination can happen - (Jun/23/2013 )

Do you believe that opening the lid of the a cell culture plate while your serological pipette tip is about 4-6 inches above can somehow cause contamination by transferring bacteria from the glove or outside plate surface to the tip?

How about dead skin cells on the wrist of gloves after rubbing when putting on the glove? Do you think it would be a common way for contamination to enter a plate during media changes or other manipulations?

I am brainstorming ways in which contamination keeps happening.

The glove one, yes, and from your lab coat if not changed regularly.

Contamination of the stocks at a low level is also common, this then shows up over a period of time as repeated contamination.

Waterbaths, fridges/coldrooms are also common.
