Random vs oligo primer in preamplification RT - (Jun/09/2013 )

I am using promega REVERRSE TRANSCRIPTIO SYSTEM to make cDNA from viral RNA. The kit provided with two, random and oligo, primers. My question is “which is better in my case(viral RNA) the random or the oligo primer?”

presumably the oligos are actually oligo dT? if this is the case - would you expect the viral transcripts to have poly A tails?
