Lysis buffer for white matter - (May/13/2013 )

Hi

I am a newbie to electrophoresis and western blotting. I need to measure white matter proteins (MBP, PLP, etc) in corpus callosum samples. Is RIPA an appropriate buffer for tissue that is so high in lipids, or should I use something else? I can't seem to find any consistency in the literature.

Thanks!

Hilary

if you need total lysate then RIPA is a very strong lysis buffer. unless you need other cellular fractions, then you need to use milder lysis buffers.
