Native gel electrophoresis: Can it tell if a protein is forming dimer? - (May/08/2013 )

Hi there

I have a protein and I want to determine if it forms homodimer or not. If I run it by Native gel electrophoresis will I be able to see if it forms dimer or not? If so how will it look in the native gel?

Thanks.

You should be able to by running some denatured protein alongside so that you will see the monomer and look for a doubled size band. You could also transfer and then use an antibody to detect.
