Which is a better way to culture cells after thawing ? - (Sep/14/2012 )

Centrifuge the thawed cells in culture medium and resuspend the pellet then only transfer it to a culture flask
OR straight away culture the thawed cells from the cryovial in a culture flask ?

Depends on the freezing method - if you used DMSO, it is generally better to spin the cells down so as to remove the DMSO, which damages the cells.

I believe it is better to use the normal cells thawing culture, that includes centrifugation thawed cells in cultured medium, discard medium to remove DMSO then culturing cells in fresh medium
Once I worked with ATCC cells (keratinocytes primary cells), and even though it was stored with 10% DMSO, but ATCC protocol said I should culture it directly after thawing no centrifuge, then remove the older medium with remaining of DMSO after 24 hrs of culturing.
