Question about lab logs - (Jul/12/2012 )

Hi I'm doing an internship in a lab this summer, I'm a beginner in the field and I just saw the lab log of a researcher it was clear enough but I think I couldn't totally link some results with the experiment log.

I was wondering whether it existed some official benchmark about lab logs that would explain how to manage a lab log, for example which data we should write on which document so everything is very clear, should we regroup data by date or by exepriment etc...7

Good laboratory practice regulations surely contain a chapter about that. They're a benchmark, but complicated and it depends where you work, if you need to follow them exactly (though it's usually always a good idea to work at least similar to these rules, though much of the red tape you can leave out then)....
