How to best store PCR product? - (Jul/02/2012 )

Hi, I've unfortunately run a PCR that will finish passed the time the UV photo lab room closes. This PCR is simply an optimization run to see if the reaction works. I am thinking of storing the PCR product in the freezer and running a small amount on the gel I've already prepared. Will the gel I run tomorrow be of poorer quality? Or will storing it in the freezer result in practically similar results?

Hi,

Once a pcr reaction has been completed, you can freeze the reaction mixture without adverse effects on the DNA. Your gel will look as good as if you had run it without freezing the DNA.

Agreed.

I actually leave my PCR products at 4C overnight and run them the next day all the time. (-20 if I want to store them for longer than that)
