Signal peptide removed when making recombinant protein - (Jun/03/2012 )

Why is it that why you make recombinant protein, you don't include the signal peptide?

is it just that with the SP it will be directed to the location whereas if you JUST want the protein, you don't include it so it stays within the cytoplasm of the cell?
