quantify immunofluorescence staining - (Apr/17/2012 )

Hello everybody,

I just want to ask how to quantify immunofluorescence staining for ki67 or pcna. thanks. what is the advantage of using flow cytometry over immunofluoresnce to observe proliferation of cells?

thank you.

IF is not a quantifiable technique... how would you set up standards for it?

Flow cytometry will analyse many cells quite quickly and can tell you which stage of the cell cycle they are in, whereas to do the same on IF would take a very long time (e.g. to count 10,000 cells) and several different stains for cell cycle markers.
