Cell culture in candle jar - (Dec/13/2011 )

Hi everybody, I'm a newbie in cell culture. My previous research area was in protein purification. I have a project, where I want to culture fibroblast and epithelial cell from animal tissue. The problem is I don't have a CO2 incubator. I learned that you can culture erythrocytes together with malaria parasites using candle jar method. So is it possible to culture other cells using this method? What is the suitable media to use if it is possible?

Really glad for the help from forum members!

There are a number of mediums that can be used in ordinary air incubators, I think the commonly used one is Leibovitz's L15 medium.
