Immunocytochemistry with HEK293 cells - (Sep/30/2011 )

Hi,

I've been trying to proof that transfection of a transmembrane protein works on HEK293 cells using immunocytochemistry with a commercially available antibody.
I grow cells on glass coverslips and fix them with formaldehyde, but still the cells seem to disappear during the washing steps.

Does anyone have any experience with this and can help me with some practical tips?

Thank you..

293 are notorious for lifting off culture surfaces. You can try growing them on gelatine (collagen) or poly L lysine coated coverslips.
