how to wash cells after fixation for a live binding study - (Sep/07/2011 )

I have read that you can fix live cells in with 1% formaldehyde for a few minutes and then wash them with lysine to neutralize the formaldehyde and incubate the cells with proteins of interest and that the cells will stay alive for the experiment. Does anyone know what type of lysine and what concentration? I can't find this information in my searches. Thanks!

Fixing in formaldehyde is pretty terminal for the cells usually, I wouldn't rely on them being alive after fixing. Lysine or glycine just mop up free formaldehyde molecules that may be floating around. I use 0.1M glycine in PBS.
