Random digest of double stranded DNA - (Jul/25/2011 )

I have a double stranded DNA fragment of about 500bp. I want to break it into random smaller pieces, preferably 50bp or less.
Is there any enzyme to do this? Dicer-like enzyme for DNA? May be just vortexing will work? Any information/advice will be helpful.

DNase1 cuts rather randomly. Depending on the time, you'll end up with 2 or 4mer. Otherwise, try sonication which will take much longer.
Vortex results in shearing, but not breaking of the double strand.
