Dissolving Calcium Chloride in PBS: How to Prevent Precipitation? - (Jul/07/2011 )

Hi there,

I am trying to make PBS containing 100 mM CaCl2. However, when I dissolve the correct amount of CaCl2 in the PBS, there is a formation of precipitate. Does anyone know how to prevent this and make 100 mM CaCl2 PBS?

You are probably forming CaHPO4 which is very insoluble in water... you will have to make a more dilute solution of Ca2+ as you will never be able to overcome this problem.

in addition to bob1: add stock solution of CaCl2 stepwise to PBS under stiring
