Smear and fluorescent in the well, could it be DNA or ? - (May/30/2011 )

Hi everyone,

these samples were the genomic DNA that i extracted from bacteria using Qiagen DNA mini kit.
there are some fluorescent in the well of the agarose gel. is it the DNA stuck in the well and cannot be separate out?
or what could be the possible things in the well?
i'm using 1% gel in 1xTBE buffer, run in 90v for 1 hour. is it appropriate for separation of genomic DNA?

the genomic dna is stuck at the origin. you may get some migration with a 0.7% (or 0.5%) gel, but it is typical of genomic dna.
