NuPAGE Gel get smaller after staining o/n - (Mar/08/2011 )

Hi All

I ran a NuPAGE 4-12% Bis Tris for protein. I stained overnight with Coomassie stain and we use this stain before and after and everythibg is allright. Next morning when I want to destain I saw the gel get smaller than it sholud be but I see the bands on the gel. My question has it happened to anyone to see something similar to that.

methanol in the staining solution caused the gel to shrink. the destaining solution should allow the gel to swell back to the original size if there is a lower concentration of methanol (we use 50% methanol in the stain and 30% in the destain).
