Stripping Antibodies on Immunohistochemistry - (Mar/02/2011 )

Hi everyone,

I'm in the middle of doing an immunohistochemistry with mouse brain slices. I've already treated them with antibodies, but I just found out that the dilutions were wrong. The antibodies won't stain the slices because it's too weak. Is there anyway I can strip the antibodies? and then replace them with the properly diluted antibodies?

Thanks!

If you simply used a too diluted antibody, there is no need to strip. I would simply reincubate the samples with the correct dilution.

I agree with Chelo. Stripping is notoriously difficult to achieve properly and if you just reincubate with the proper dilutions there will be absolutely no harm done.
