Lyophilization and GFP/RFP expression in bacteria - Effect of lyophilization on fluorophore expression (Mar/02/2011 )

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if lyophilization affects bacteria's ability to express GFP/RFP? The P. aeruginosa strains we have are tagged with GFP and RFP. We would like to lyophilize the strains. Can the bacteria express the fluorophores upon revival from lyophilized form?
