rna isolation - (Jan/03/2011 )

Hi all
I am isolating rna from a legume and following the GITC method. What i am unable to understand is that the pellet I get after isopropanol addition is yellow and stays yellow after 70% ethanol wash. I run the rna in formaldehyde gel and the quality of rna is good. Is the rna sample containing some contaminants ? Will it interfere in RT-PCR?

Plz help

This once happened to me when using old isopropanol for precipitation. Although I didn`t observe any problems concerning RNA quality, I would repeat RNA isolation if possible using fresh isoprop.

I would suspect phenolic contamination (from the legume) of the RNA, it may or may not interfere with down-stream applications.
