fluorescence labeling - (Dec/20/2010 )

Hi everyone,

I would like to label the statins simvastatin and rosuvastatin to any fluorescent dye ( I can almost detect every dye). Please find attached both statins complexed to the HMG-CoA-Reductase (target of the statins).
For simvastatin, there is a COOH-group that may be a good link. However, a spacer may be necessary. Further information can be find here http://www.pdb.org/pdb/explore.do?structureId=1HW9
For rosuvastatin I guess the CH3-group could work. Further informations http://www.pdb.org/pdb/explore.do?structureId=1HWL
In both cases I do not know which dye to choose and how to link it to the statins. Unfortunately, I am not a chemist but studied biotechnology so I have some ideas but not expert ideas.
So could anybody help?

Thanks a lot!

PS: You can also answer in German.
