career after Ph.D - (Nov/19/2010 )

Dear Friends,

I have completed Ph.D Biotechnology and im based at India. Due to some family constraints, im not able to go for post doc abroad at present (which most people do).Hence i began job hunting and i went to some top research labs for PDF, but it was unsucessful. I can think of only the three options of my career
1. Research based job i.e post –doc - ( i dint get)
2. Job in company – mostly prefer people who completed post doc
3. Lecturer job in University or college - fine, but this will be more of teaching and not much research.
Assuming that i take up a lecturer job, will it be easy to move on to PDF later on?
Ive heard of people say that its difficult to take up a research career (as a post doc) after some years of teaching since people tend to forget many lab techniques learnt during Ph.D
Suggestions please.

Since, post doc abroad has not worked out for you.... i would say... u go for option 2... I dont think.. option 3 makes u less of a researcher after 3-5 years....

I have myself found many institutes carrying out exceptional studies after I found my job.... so I would suggest... stick in there.... dont give up hope keep applying.... and you will definitely get a good job....
