Pichia Pastoris - contamination (Oct/08/2010 )

Hi,

I have Pichia pastoris X33, and it was growing in BMMY (Invitrogen protocol), but We had contamination with some bacteria, My question is SOmebody knosw which bacteria can grow in that medium?

Hola, This reference (The Journal of General and Applied Microbiology
Vol.35 , No.5(1989)pp.351-361 ) describes some strains of bacteria using methanol: Methylomonas, Metanolomonas, Paracoccus, Thiobacillus, Hiphomicrobium and Protomonas. If you have your stocks of Pichia contaminated, you have to do an antibiogram to eliminate the contamination of cultures. Good luck
