Are my cells undergoing epigenetic changes? - (Sep/29/2010 )

When I expose my cells to a certain conditions, they tend to show some irreversible effects and cell death occurs. How do I study if there is any epigenetic changes occurring? Is there a kit available to study complete histone modifications from cell lysates?

If you are looking for histone modification changes then you will need to prepare your histone protein extracts. Then you will need to screen for changes in histone H3 or H4 levels before/after your "certain conditions." Both Active Motif and Epigentek have a good selection of histone modification kits, which also allows you to look at specific histone lysines. Hope this helps.
