Does a viral gene have introns? - (Aug/12/2010 )

Hi

Does a viral gene have introns?

I'm studying human cytomegalovirus (human herpesvirus 5).
There are UL genes and US genes.
I'm not sure they have introns.

Also, where can I find out if they have introns?

Thanks,

Hello,

As per my knowledge, virus does not have any intron

-Dr. Desai-

HIV Tat has an intron.

-Minna-

One plant virus has intron.
Maybe you could look for genome of your virus at ncbi (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/. It will tell you if that virus has intron or not.
