Methods to assess cell viability - (Aug/10/2010 )

Hi there,

We've just had a paper accepted for publication if we just carry out one last experiment to satisfy the reviewers comments. Basically in our experiment, we cultured primary cells, treated them with different concentrations of our compound and then collected the cells for Western and the media for ELISA. The reviewer wants to see data on cell viability, so I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how I could assess cell viability (using a marker of some sort?) with just the media or cell pellets I have saved. Obviously I know culturing the cells again and doing an MTT assay or equivalent would be the best option, but we are just really trying to avoid more cultures again.

Thanks

Unfortunately..cell pellets and media won't suffice...as a reviewer, I certainly would expect some sort of data from live cultures....:(
