Lactic acid bateria maintenance - (Jul/21/2010 )

HI all,

We have procured few lactic acid bateria for trials from ATCC.

we would like to preserve them for long period by storing them at -80º or in LN2. we normally prepare glycerol stock of cultures to store them for long periods. But or lactobacilli skim milk is recommended in some papers and i am confused. should i grow the culture in skimmed milk nd preserve it in that or should i grow them in MRS and then preserve in skim milk or go for glycerol stock preparation.

can anyone guide me with a protocol or methodology for long term preservation of lactic acid bacteria.

thanks in anticipation
