Pipettors for Real Time PCR (urgent) - Any good one? Any good recommended brands? (Jul/07/2010 )

Dear All,
I plan to do real-time PCR work and I do need an accurate pipettor for me to do my work and consider to get one complete set for myself.

Do you have any good and recommended brands?

I am considering getting HTL DISCOVERY Comfort, Thermofisher or Eppendorf . Any comments?
Thanks.

pipetman and eppendorf are probably the best out there.

i use eppendorf "reference" pipets. i prefer the way they feel in my hand over those that use a pipetman form factor. they cost a little more but the comfort is worth it (to me).

Thanks mdfenko. You are always here to reply me. :P I do agree with you. Now lets see how is the price I can get from my supplier.

Anyone else got any other comments?

When we bought pipettes earlier this year we were able to get some on trial for a week or so. If you could do this to see how you like working with them, I would. Failing that perhaps you could have a look around other labs in your department or institution and borrow or play with someone else's pipettes to see if you like them. Comfort and accuracy are most important and seem to be quite a personal thing.

I don't do RT-PCR but the others in my lab like the Eppendorf or the Finn pipettes. The only hassle with the Eppendorf ones is that they will only take Eppendorf tips, which becomes quite expensive.

I also have an anti-recomendation against the CAPP pipettes, a former post-doc got them very cheap, but they are heavy, hard to use and inaccurate.

There was another general pipette thread here recently, perhaps read that too.

i agree with mdfenko, concerning the Eppendorf pipette as a good choice
and how it feels also :)

we use tips from usa scientific for our eppendorfs. we can also use tips from other vendors (eg denville). we use the best quality tips for which we get a good price.

the only eppendorf brand tips that we use are the ones that came with the pipettes.
