Biochemical markers are measured in serum because... - say if my answers are right! (May/11/2010 )
Biochemical markers are measured in serum because:
a. Biochemical markers are much better at the diagnosis and identification of tumours
b. Biochemical markers may be useful in diagnosis, but are most useful in monitoring treatment
c. Biochemical measurements are ONLY useful in monitoring
d. Biochemical test are much easier and cheaper than biopsies
e. Biochemical markers are always cancer specific and cannot be falsely raised by benign conditions
a and b. (not sure about d-possibly?)
definitely not c and e
Please correct me if i'm wrong. thanks

answer a. is grammatically incorrect: much better than what?
i don't know..suppose its basically asking if its better at the diagnosis and identification of tumours at all.
were my answers right? what do you think of 'd'??
thanks.
A and B, but which one?
Do you know if there is 1 biochemical marker that can pinpoint a tumor? I don't

bad test if one has to guess the question
I think in a) is meant:
Biochemical markers in serum are much better at the diagnosis and identification of tumours than from other sources
I donīt know but I speculate that this is not correct; for example, if you have a non-metastatic tumour where you have no CTC what is better than analyzing the solid tumour itself?
Answer is tricky because you have two statements: The first is correct but the second?
As a critical scientist I claim that none of the answers is fully correct
it being a normal multiple choice type question i guess if only one answer is applicable, the best wud be B
