fixating bacterial spores - (May/07/2010 )

hi!

does anyone know how it would be possible to fixate bacterial spores (B. subtilis) with all the required nutrients into a microtitre plate, so that when a reagent (liquid) is added the nutrients dissolve and the spores begin to germinate?
which substance could be used to fix it all together?

thanx!

why cant you just put the spores in the plate and then add the medium ?

I do not see the point or your goal.

You want to preserve spores but not germinate them in a 96 well plate and later on when needed you want to germinate them? Is this what you mean?

or?

I agree with pito -- why can't the "liquid reagent" that you add be media?

yes that is what i mean... it is all only for an imaginary bioassay, and i don't know if it is possible to fix spores or spores+nutrients to the plate?

Offcourse you can add spores in a 96well plate and keep them there.
However I do not completely understand what you want or what your goal is, its a strange task.
But it is possible to store spores with or without nutrients in such plates.
