fetal bovine serum - (Apr/28/2010 )

hi everyone. i just want to ask what would be the effect of leaving my unopened serum at room temperature overnight, then inactivated it at 56 degrees for more than 1 hour. should i just throw it an inactivate a new bottle? i just dont want to waste it.

What are you using it for? Is it a one experiment thing? If you are using it to make 5 bottles of 1L media (10 aliquots, two per L) then I'd throw it out because it is the base stock.
We would throw it out period but we have plenty of funding. If you do use it, monitor your results. If something comes up you have a possible cause. But that doesn't necessarily mean that was it.
