Suggestion for a good -20 freezer brand? - (Mar/19/2010 )

Hi,

We are looking for a new -20C freezer--nice one but not over 5k. What brand would you recommend?

Thanks!

get one from Sears, much cheaper from fisher, VWR,etc.

Go to your local elec-shop and get one there. We got 20 something -20, -40 and -80 freezers here at work and we always do that. there's no need to spend plenty of cash on a "lab" freezer box that doesn't go lower than -20. go to the pros when you're in need of -40 og -80.

Go to Sears - just make sure it's not frost-free.

The one we got from Sear's died in 3 years >< and the frost accumulate so much! That's why we are aiming for a better freezer...

We got a nice one from Home Depot. It didn't need to be too big and it didn't have the automatic defrost.
We did get a couple from another smaller distributor-- one of them worked well, but the other had issues. We were able to get the problematic one fixed easily enough, but it was an issue.
If you want the contact number for that distributor, send me a message and I'll pass it along.

Hope that helps!

How you guys think about Forma and Revco, the 2 big name brand?
