What is the limitation of C4 plants?? - (Mar/10/2010 )

We are know C4 plants are able to concentrate CO2, thus allowing RuBisCO to operate at a faster rate than in C3 plants. But since it is of "better design", why donít C4 plants dominate the planet (i.e., what are their molecular and physiological limitations)?

People here won't usually help you unless you can demonstrate that you have had a go at answering the question yourself... so what do you think?

if you have no concrete idea, try to think in principle terms: Why does diversity exists in nature?
