40 pcr cycles and Ct-values of 36-40 - trust or not? - (Mar/03/2010 )
Hey all,
I was wondering, if you run 40 pcr cycles, are Ct-vales between 36-40 meningful or not?
I thought that Ct-values, close to the number of cycles, should be examined with great caution.
And can somebody give me any references (scientific articles) dealing with these topics?
Thank you in advance!

hi,
If you're doing double tests, and both replica have a Cp of 36, i would still use these values, especially if you see that you also get a high Cp-value, using a housekeeping gene on the same sample. In contrast, i would not use Cp-values of 39, 40.
