info about the little p in pH - i kept my promise phage!!! (Jan/06/2010 )

Recently my junior asked me what does the small p in pH stand for and i was totally confused as wat to answer.. as i had heard so many explanations to it and i did not want to confuse her as i myself was not sure abt those explanations... then i bumped across this paper and Thanx to phage now i have it,... and have attached here for everyone s reference...

To my amazement, the author in the paper started to research this cause of the same reason as mine.. a question asked by sumone and the conclusion acording to him is it is nothing but an arbitary alphabet tat sorenson used to address during his experimentation... as simple as if he had named it sample y, it wud have been yH now!!!!! :P

please go thru the paper and feel free to comment... its unbilievable!!!
