RNA recovery from Ethanol - (Dec/21/2009 )

Hey

I have RNA in ethanol in -70. It´s been there for years.
I wanto to run these RNA samples with RT-PCR so I have to recover the RNA.
I centrifuge the sample (4C, 30 min,13000 rpm) and evaporate the residual ethanol. After that I´ll add water. Would 20ul of water be good or?

1 - Have you precipitated your RNA first?
2 - The volume in witch you will resuspend your RNA is quite a bit dependant of the quantity of RNA you have.. But 20 µl is a good starting point.

yeah, 20 ul should be fine if the conc is in a good range. we usually add 30 ul. use RNase free tips.
