Wound healing question - (Dec/16/2009 )

Hi,

I had a quick question about the scratch assay. I wanted to run a scratch assay on collagen coated plates however I am concerned that using a pipette tip to scratch the wound would also take off the collagen coating from the well surface. My PI seems to think that it wont be a concern. Should I be?

Thanks!

Hi:

You can use the culture inserts to wound healing assay.

I did some wound healing assay previously too. hard to get good scratch area, unless you have a steady hand and consistent scratching to get consistent gap of cell free zone. Culture inserts looks like it is a better option compare to using pipette tips, Iker.

But I guess some stingy PI will think "why not just use a pipette tips? everyone is doing that. and it is cheaper." LOL.
