freezing during RNA isolation step - (Dec/11/2009 )

Hi,

I am using RNeasy kits from Qiagen for RNA isolation. I am wondering if the samples could be frozen down after lysis step. If yes, stored at what temperature? What risks are associated for long-term storage?

Thanks!

yes..The cell/tissue lysates in RLT buffer (with B-ME added) can be stored at -70 for quite long times (I've tried upto 3 months without any significant degradation)...or at 4 degrees for a week to month and above or at RT for 3-4 days (the RT option is not a good choice unless u want to ship it somewhere...for storage, the -70 is the best!!)
