20x SSC - northern transfer (Nov/16/2009 )

plz let me know
why is 20x SSC buffer used in the transfer of nucleic acids-why is a high strength buffer used?

well i ve never done a norhern blot but my concept says higher salt.. better diffusion.. lesser time for blotting!!!
