GENOMIC COPIES/CFU - (Oct/26/2009 )

I hardly find any literature for GC/CFU ratio's....I'd appreciate if some one could help me out with some literatures specifically for GC/CFU ratio

Thanks

The GC/CFU ratio will vary depending on the species of bacterium, for some bacteria 1 bacterium is enough to form a colony, but for others 10 or even 20 might not be.

I suggest you look up Real-time PCR (qPCR) and look at something like a delta-delta CT method.

Note that this will depend on where on the chromosome you measure copy count. For locations near the origin, multiple copies per cell will exist (at least during exponential growth phase), while for locations near the chromosomal termination, there will almost always be a single copy.
