About T-antigen and tumor cell lines - (Oct/07/2009 )

I heared that T-antigen was expressed in the early phase of transforming cells. So do anyone know that if all tumor cell lines express T-antigen? and what about NIH/3T3 cell line?

No not all cells have T-antigen, only those transformed by SV-40. There are other similar proteins expressed by other viruses that work equally well.

Thanks a lot. So does it mean that the plasmids which only contain SV-40 ori can't replicate themselves in these cell lines which not transformed by SV-40?
