Acrylamide/Bis Solution for Small Protein (14 kDa) - Which Acrylamide/Bis Solution do you use for small proteins (Sep/02/2009 )

Dear All,
I want to detect the small protein with 14 kDa of mass. I had found on the Fermentas website that it is better to use the Acy/Bis Solution with C=5%. So, I went on the Bio-rad site but the readymade solutions of Acrylamide Bis are numerous and I am kinda confused which to use. So, if you have any experience with that then please let me know.
Thanks a lot in advance.

you should try the tris-tricine (shagger and von jagow) formulation for separating small proteins and peptides.

the formulation instructions for the tris-tricine gel gives the acrylamide/bis ratio (49.5%T, 3%C). i think the formulation is somewhere in this forum (i may have put it here). when i gave my initial response i was away from the lab and did not have access to my methods book.
