Overview: Feeder Cells are normal cells such as fibroblasts derived from mouse or human to serve as a basal layer for stem cells and provide secreted factors, extracellular matrix, and cellular contacts for the maintenance of stem cells in the undifferentiated state without losing pluripotency. Feeder cells are inactivated by gamma irradiation or mitomycin.
