I have a band on my Coomassie blue stained SDS-PAGE and I want to cut it in order to identify the protein by mass spectrometry after tryptic digestion. If my purification is correct, this is a membrane protein.
For the tryptic digestion, do you use the protocol for soluble proteins?

A forum for discussing membrane proteins?

Interest in membrane proteins becomes higher every day and some 70% of current drug targets are membrane proteins. But working with this type of proteins remains very difficult, only few structures are available in the PDB and membrane protein researchers are often alone with their problems (solubility - aggregation - expression and purification - electrophoresis techniques - structure determination - etc).
I didn't find any forum or group specific for these proteins in the web and I'd like to propose to create a group here.
Is somebody interested in that idea?
