One other question, does anyone know how yogurt companies test their finished product for live lactobacilus acidofilus organisms?
There is an online database similar to Bergey's. It is a probibilistic identification matrix, where you can enter in what you know about the bacteria and search the database for species. It will give you results for the most likely Taxa, and an ID Score. The website also has an interactive identification key, methods, etc.
