Hi,
I need to prepare my cells for transplantation and need a final concentration of 13000 cells/µl. I centrifuged a 10 ml flask, took off the supernatant, and left only 1 ml. After counting the cells with a hematocytometer I ended up with 1000000 cells/ml or 1000 cells/µl. Does that mean that I have to reduce the volume of the media to 76 µl to get to 1000 cells/µl? I used the formula:
C1V1=C2V2
1000 cells/µl x 1 ml (1000 µl)= 13000 cells/µl X V2
V2= 77 µl

Yes, 77 ul, rather than 1000, will yield 13,000 cells/ul.

Science is simply common sense at its best that is rigidly accurate in observation and merciless to fallacy in logic.

Thanks.
