The Dish

Speaking of things astronomical, for the second time in 10 years, one of the great Australian observatories has been devastated by bushfire. The Siding Springs observatory in central NSW was engulfed by a massive fire on the weekend. The staff all escaped and hope to get back there today to see what has been damaged. The Mt Stromlo observatory was almost totally destroyed in a fierstorm in 2003.
